Privacy Policy – Notelo

Last updated: October 2026

Notelo is a notes app for iPhone and Mac. In short: Notelo has no server of its own, no user accounts, no ads and no analytics. Your notes live on your devices and in your private iCloud. We, the developers, do not receive or see any of your data.

Controller

Donaz Entertainment by Robin Limprecht, contact: noteloapp@icloud.com or via the contact page.

What data does the app process?

  • Notes: Formatted text, folders, tags and links, plus photos, files, places, tables, drawings, voice notes and scanned documents you add to a note. They are stored on your device.
  • iCloud sync: Notelo syncs your notes between your devices through Apple iCloud (CloudKit). The data lives in your private iCloud area at Apple. We have no access to it. Without an iCloud sign-in, notes stay on the device only.
  • Sharing and collaboration (optional): When you share a note, Notelo uses Apple iCloud sharing. The people you invite can see and edit that note. You decide whom you invite and what you share.
  • Locked notes: You can protect notes with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. The system performs the check. Notelo receives no biometric data.
  • Photos, camera and files (optional): You pick photos with the system photo picker, and Notelo only receives the images you select. The system asks for camera access when you scan or take photos. Text in images and scans is recognized on your device with Apple's text recognition (Vision) so that search can find it.
  • Voice notes (optional): The system asks for microphone access for recordings. The transcript is created by Apple's speech recognition. Where your device supports it, this runs entirely on the device. Otherwise Apple may process the recording for recognition (see Apple's privacy information on speech recognition).
  • Places (optional): When you add a place, Notelo asks for your location "While Using the App" once if you choose "Current Location". Address search uses Apple Maps (MapKit) and sends your search terms to Apple. Notelo stores only the chosen place (name, address, coordinate) in the note. If you tap a place and have chosen Google Maps, Waze or Citymapper as your map app, Notelo passes the coordinate to that app or opens it in the browser.
  • Send tasks to Tasklo (optional): When you send tasks from a note, Notelo asks for access to Apple Reminders and creates the tasks in a list called "Notelo". The app Tasklo (also from Donaz Entertainment) reads them from there. The data does not leave your Apple account.
  • Spotlight search: So that you can find notes through your device's search, Notelo stores titles, a text excerpt and keywords of your notes (excluding locked and deleted notes and templates) in the system's Spotlight index. The index stays on your device.
  • Settings: Language, appearance, text size, sorting, map app and switches. They are stored locally on your device.

The data is used for display, search, widgets and Siri shortcuts on your device. It is not sold, not used for advertising and not transmitted to us.

AI features (Apple Intelligence)

Summarizing, proofreading, rewriting, translating and title suggestions use Apple Intelligence and run entirely on your device. No data is sent to us or to other providers. Without Apple Intelligence these features are not available.

Widgets, Siri and Shortcuts

Widgets read a short list of your recent notes (excluding locked ones) from shared storage on your device (App Group). Siri and Shortcuts work with your notes on the device. No data leaves the device.

Exporting and sharing

When you share or print a note as text, PDF or Markdown, Notelo hands it to your system's share menu or print dialog. You decide where it goes. Notelo sends nothing on its own.

No sharing of data, no ads

Notelo contains no ads, no trackers and no analytics services. There is no registration.

Deleting and revoking

  • You delete notes in the app. They stay in "Recently Deleted" for 30 days and are then removed permanently, including from iCloud.
  • If you delete the app, its local data is removed. You delete notes in iCloud in your device's iCloud settings under "Manage Storage".
  • You change permissions (camera, microphone, photos, location, reminders, speech recognition) in System Settings under Privacy & Security.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we store none of your data, you exercise these rights directly through your device and your Apple account. If you have questions, write to us.

Children

Notelo is not directed at children.
